Overview: What does an Animal Care Worker do?
Beginning attendants perform basic tasks, such as cleaning cages and dog runs, filling food and water dishes, and exercising animals. Grooming the pet involves brushing, clipping, cutting the nails, cleaning the ears, and bathing. Some of the work may be unpleasant, physically and emotionally demanding, and sometimes dangerous. Most animal care and service workers must clean animal cages and lift, hold, or restrain animals, risking exposure to bites or scratches.
