Overview: What does a City Planner do?
City planners create plans for the design and implementation of urban land use and infrastructure. They work with local governments, experts and public interest groups to develop proposals for community development. Their design plans must take into account issues such as zoning, utilities, roads, housing, transportation issues, existing infrastructure, financial commitments, and future growth. Their plans must account for public input, government policies, conservation issues, and legal limitations, as well as overall project feasibility and financial impact.
